VETERANS HELPING TODAY'S RETURNING HEROES

How Awesome Is This !!!!

Please check out the website and join us in supporting this group. Consider it a privilege

• As of December 31, 2008, over 45,000 troops have been wounded in Iraq and
Afghanistan since the start of operations.
• Approximately 10% of our American heroes have returned with life-altering injuries:
blind; with amputated limbs; spinal cord injuries; traumatic brain injuries; or suffering
from post traumatic stress disorder
.
• Veterans in need of guide and service dogs have vastly exceeded original projections
• Everyday we learn of more ways these precious dogs can help veterans live again with
dignity and self-reliance.
• It costs in excess of $30,000 to raise a guide or service dog for a disabled veteran.
• The dog and training are provided at no cost to the veteran.
• The federal government does not have a program in place to provide guide or service
dogs to veterans in need.
• Providing Vet Dogs is answering the call to serve the men and women who have
sacrificed so much for our country.
MEET ONE OF AMERICA'S VET DOGS
Providing the assistance for our returning Heroes
Veterans Helping Today’s Returning Heroes, Inc. needs
Your Gift for Life to continue the mission
to help our heroes live again with dignity and independence
All contribution for Your Gift of Life are tax exempt from Federal and State Income taxes.

Tribute to Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson Tribute
Beech Bend Park was very excited when the Sea Dragon was purchased from Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch in Santa Barbara, California. While Michaels' life was controversial at times, his contribution to the music world is legendary. With Michael's sudden passing, we have been overwhelmed with calls and visits from fans wanting to ride the Sea Dragon. A memorial has been formed at the base of the Sea Dragon and those wishing to bring flowers, photos, cards and other mementos are welcome to do so. Beech Bend Park will open its doors with free admission to fans of Michael Jackson on Sunday night, June 28th from 5 to 7 p.m. with complimentary rides on the Sea Dragon as a tribute to the "King of Pop"
The Sea Dragon ride was originally puchased by Michael Jackson and installed in his Neverland Ranch in Santa Barbara, California in the mid 90's. It was said to be Michael's favorite ride. Beech Bend Park purchased the ride in November 2008 and moved it from Neverland Ranch to its new home in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The photo above is a picture of Michael having fun riding the Sea Dragon and the photo to the left shows the Sea Dragon while at Neverland Ranch. The ride is currently operating at Beech Bend Park and is a crowd favorite.

Visitors welcome free tours at Mammoth Cave(MAMMOTH CAVE NATIONAL PARK – June 24, 2009) On June 20-21, Mammoth CaveNP offered the Discovery and Mammoth Passage cave tours free of charge. The offer will be repeated July 18-19, and August 15-16, 2009 as a gestureby the National Park Service to help families enjoy the outdoors.“We consider the weekend a great success,” said Superintendent PatrickReed. “The purpose was to give families a break in these tough economictimes. Some came out specifically because of the free tours, others whowere already here added a free tour to their visit. Both Saturday andSunday showed significant increases over the number of people who visitedon the same weekend last year.”On Saturday and Sunday (June 20-21), 7,151 people toured Mammoth Cave, compared to 5,157 people on the same weekend in 2008, a 28 percentincrease. The park ran the self-guided Discovery tour through the busiestpart of the day, and then added extra Mammoth Passage tours to ensure allvisitors would have an opportunity to go on one of the free tours.“One woman told us the tours added to a cheap summer get-a-way she plannedfor her grandchildren,” said Mike Adams, Mammoth Cave’s chief ofinterpretation. “She said they came to this area to use discounted ticketsat one attraction, then came to Mammoth Cave for the free tours. We hopeothers will follow her example when we offer the free tours again July18-19 and August 15-16.” - NPS -

Firewood ?? EBA ???

Frequently we are asked "Can we bring firewood with us to your campground"? The answer is you can not bring plants, logs or firewood from any other state into the state of Kentucky. the reason is the "EBA, Emerald Ashe Borer". For more information about this here is a link to the "Kentucky's Office of the State Entomologist".

Home Again advanced lost pet recovery service.

Can you imagine going on vacation to a unfamiliar area and suddenly your pet has wondered off? It could happen so very quickly. If you haven't already, perhaps you could consider the "Home Again" pet recovery service. For just a few dollars your Vet can place the microchip just under the skin. You then go online, by mail or phone to register the chip number, the pet information and the owner information. It's that simple. You can pay a one time fee (Very small amount) or you can upgrade the plan for about the price of a bag of dog food per year. You get lots of cool benefits and the peace of mind that over 50,000 Vets and Shelters will be looking for your lost Buddy and that they can contact you when they find him. Let's say you live in Rising Sun Maryland but are visiting the "Caves, Lake & Corvette" region of Kentucky and your pet gets lost. Every "Home Again" subscriber, pet owners, Vet Clinics, Shelters and so on are notified within a radius of the Kentucky zip code where he was last seen. A lost Pup with an area wide APB out on him. Pretty cool I think. Peace of mind for a very small amount of cash.... Check it out at: www.homeagain.com

(No this is not a paid comercial for "Home Again" just my own personal thoughts. I can't imagine a night with my Buddy lost and all alone in a strange place.)

USA, Still the Greatest Country on Planet Earth !!!

On any given day we can turn on the TV and get quite depressed if we aren't careful. The economy is scarey to say the least. The world is for the most part at war. Things really are a mess. However we need to stop and remember that God is in control. He will not be caught by surprize by any of the today's news. And we live in the greatest country on the planet. I have friends from all over the world and I don't mean to slight them, there are other countries that are great as well. Maybe I'm a little partial.... Maybe I just love my Country that much... Take a minute to click on this link. I promise you will be encouraged by taking a minute to refocus on America the Land of the Free and Home of the Brave !!
